Mermaid in Svisloch

Sometime about XVI century a beautiful gentry girl lived in Minsk. Every day matchmakers came to the beauty's house which stayed at the cross of Podgornaya and Franziskanskaya streets (modern Karl Marks and Lenin streets), but she refused to everybody, pretenders seemed unworthy to her. As usual a young and handsome but poor gentry fellow fell in love with her. He visited her during long time but couldn't win her love. She told him straightly that wouldn't marry a poor man. And once having visited his sweetheart again the guy saw her being hugged by ugly, stupid but rich citizen. Young guy got badly angry. He waited till the rival was gone, grasped the pragmatic beauty and drowned her in Svisloch.
